Who is he?
Herbert Hoover was the President before Franklin Delano Roosevelt. It was during his presidency that the Great Depression started. Herbert Hoover did not believe in the government getting involved with public affairs and so during Hoover’s presidency the government did nothing. During the Great Depression the government did not get involved or offer relief to Americans at any time and Hoover believed that people should look out for themselves. He was not very generous and was very selfish because he only looked out for himself. If it was him who was having the struggling time during the Great Depression then maybe he would have offered relief to those struggling like him. In the end Herbert Hoover did nothing but help make the economy become even worse and more in debt than it ever was before. Hoover was blamed for the Great Depression because he was the American’s leader and did nothing to help them. So Americans called shanty houses on the outskirts of towns Hoovervilles after Herbert Hoover for slimy slum houses like the cruel, nasty man they viewed him as.
Why is he important?
Herbert Hoover was important because people blamed him for the Great Depression. He did not offer any help to the suffering poor people during the time and all he cared about was himself. This is proved to be true because Herbert Hoover believed that the people should take care of themselves in the world. This is not was a leader is supposed to be like. A true good leader should always be ready to help the people that need it and Hoover was not an effective leader. Herbert Hoover was important because a president is a leader for their country and if there was no one leading the country forward like he should have been then the country can only get worse. That's one of the reason's why the Great Depression started during Hoover's presidency.
Dose he show progress?
Hoover does not show progress at all. Herbert Hoover actually shows the opposite of progress because with no support towards the people of the United States, he just made the country decline. He made the country deteriorate because he had no involvement whatsoever with the people who needed help and he believed that the people should take care of themselves. If that was possible for the people to be able to take care of themselves then why did they elect Hoover as a president to do the job? The people of America needed President Herbert Hoover to step in and solve the situation but since he did not do that, the country turned into a Great Depression.

Herbert Hoover helped lead the world into WWII because he caused the Great Depression. When there is a depression it isn't just felt in one country. All of the countries around the world felt the effects of the Great Depression. In Germany there was a lot of poverty and the people did not know if they were going to be able to make it through it. So Hitler was voted into the government by the German people because he rose to the occasion and told the people that he would give them the freedom that they needed to survive. This is how the Great Depression impacted Germany. But the whole world was impacted negatively financially which caused turmoil from the people who were mad at their governments and with all of the anger going around the world it wasn't unusual that a second world war broke lose.
