JFK & LBJ & The Civil Rights Movement
Is History a History of Progress?
This is an image showing a mob of people protesting for equal rights between the African Americans and the white people in the United States. In the picture there are black and white people both protesting which is unique because that shows that even some of the white people were unhappy with the treatment towards African Americans. There are also signs in the picture that explain the reason why the people were protesting. Some of the reasons were for ending segregation rules in public schools, voting rights for African Americans, and for allowing Jobs for African Americans. All of these protests had something in common. They all wanted equal rights between whites and African Americans. This picture explains the time period of the Civil Rights in the 1960's because there was segregation going on towards African Americans every day and some of them were being killed every day because of it. The whites were very cruel to the African Americans during the 1960's.
