What is it?
Franklin Delano Roosevelt promised Americans during the time of the Great Depression a “New Deal for Christmas”. Many Americans supported Roosevelt for this instead of Herbert Hoover because the New Deals were programs that Roosevelt created that would progress America and help them get back on their feet. The New Deal Programs would create millions of stable jobs for Americans and would support the theory of government involvement in the economy. The government would have the job of controlling the banking system more so that they could keep an eye of the wealthy and poor and prevent the huge difference in wealth from occurring again as it did before the Great Depression. The New Deal Programs are what helped get America out of the Great Depression and Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the hero.
Why is it important?
The New Deals are important because this is what Franklin Delano Roosevelt told the citizens of the United States he would do to help the economy. He promised that in his New Deals that jobs would be created for the unemployed through government jobs to fund them. He focused on making the world beautiful with his jobs by creating conservation jobs that were publicly funded. This was going to be the first step in digging the country out of the Great Depression. In the New Deals he promised that the government would offer aide to those in need and that the people could rely on the government. With the New Deals anything could be possible. Even calling an end to the Great Depression.
Is it progress?
Progress is shown in the New Deals because people started having jobs that they never had before. When there is creation of jobs then that is a good sign that the economy is doing better. This is what was happening and when the economy does better there is a progress in history. The New Deals showed progress because the government was stepping into situations and offering help. Before the New Deals the government had nothing to do with the people and now the government is starting to care about the people. When other people start helping out others in need it is called progress. Progress to make your country stronger, richer, and more efficient than it ever has been before.
Leads to...
The New Deals could of lead to WWII because maybe some of the jobs that were created in the New Deals were government jobs that were related to military. When there is a military being created to protect the country and to offer aide throughout the country then other countries nearby will start being on edge. They will acknowledge that other countries are creating an army and start creating their own as well. This is how the New Deal Programs could help lead into the next era of history known as WWII.
